No vaccine for poor countries

December has been a momentous month in the global fight against COVID-19. Amid a wave of emergency use authorizations, the UK and the US have already begun administering the first shots of Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine. But in lower-income countries, the wait could be much longer. Governments across the world are negotiating deals to buy COVID-19 vaccines, but this “frenzy of deals” could prevent poorer countries from accessing enough vaccines for most of their population until 2024.
